Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:

Examine the concept of free trade and the international structures that foster the liberalisation of international trade;
2.
Explain how international conventions, treaties and intergovernmental agreements promote, regulate and restrain trade;
3.
Explain the various ways in which government regulation may affect international business transactions;
4.
Recognise rules and principles of international trade regulation relating to specific issues within the framework of the World Trade Organization;
5.
Examine rules and procedures under the settlement of disputes mechanism in GA TT/WTO utilised to resolve international trade disputes among nations; and
6.
Critically evaluate emerging and contemporary policy issues concerning the regulation of international trade.
